Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to have riding experience to join the team?

No - individuals with any range of horse-riding experience are eligible to participate in lessons and socials. We have members who have never ridden a horse and members who have competed nationally. We do encourage very inexperienced members to familiarize themselves with basic horse safety and handling techniques through videos or local opportunities.

How does the team transport to lessons/events/shows?

The team operates on a carpool system. Team members with cars that opt to be team drivers transport the rest of the team to lessons, shows, and team events. All drivers are reimbursed for gas and often get priority to accommodate their schedules.

What equipment do I need?

Long pants (for example: bootcut jeans) and close-toed shoes with at least a 1/2" heel are required. We provide grooming equipment, saddles, pads, bridles, etc. We have a set of team helmets that members are welcome to use for lessons.

What kind of socials does the team participate in?

In order to foster a tight knit community, the team puts together several team dinners, socials with other clubs, movie nights, and team trips or outings a quarter.
